In this survey there were an inordinate number of
multiple votes with a comment that indicated anger and/or frustration.
We counted only one vote whether No or Yes.
Multiple voting ....
hmmmm. You can express your opinion easily in the comments without
trying to influence the vote one way or another. Most people just
vote and don't comment.
People who volunteer over a long time get recognized at election time
rather than those who make promises they cannot keep.
I was really hoping for Change, not the same old boys club running
everything in this town, we have to change if this town is going to
prosper and grow. Lee
It was time for a change at least our Mayor is still here to lead the
not surprised and very pleased with the balance of 3 experienced members
at the top who bring wisdom and knowledge to the issues particularly
budgeting and financial management, and 6 new councillors who will bring
energy, enthusiasm, new ideas and passion to the council table
So it's going to be the same old township, high taxes with no services,
being the red from spending for Port Elgin, kiss those bridges goodbye.
I am stunned that Cheryl Grace got so many votes. I guess SRA had all
their members vote.
We need to get rid of the Ward system. As a resident of Port Elgin, I
had no say in the election of 4 of the 6 councilors. Very disappointed
in the #1 choice from Southampton, and the loss of Mr. Cruiser.
Relieved! So glad only one member of the anti-DGR contingent from
Southampton was elected…enough already!!
Not surprised given the special interest groups were financing and
endorsing specific candidates. It will be interesting to see just how
the big dollar election promises will be financed by these very same
I'm very surprised at the number of votes Cheryl Grace received. Have
these Southampton residents forgotten her involvement with SOS an SRA?
This should prove to be an interesting term. I hope Ms. Grace will not
be reporting back to SOS and SRA as I suspect she will.
It was good to see some new faces to council, but there are still too
many old boys in there and there will not be any changes or progress
over the next four years, except tax increases
The numbers posted on the town website dont seem to add up in some
places. Town says 1,418 people voted in Saugeen, so with each person
choosing 2 candidates the total votes cast for all candidates should be
2,836 yet when you subtract the tallied votes there are 656 votes
unaccounted for. Meaning that many people only voted for 1 candidate
when they should've voted for 2? What's with the math?
Cheryl grace should NOT have been elected, poor choice southampton
The new council looks like a very energetic group. Now they must put
every town department under fine scruteny and either contract out
operations or cut costs. we need to run the town like a business not an
No. The fact that previous councillors were defeated sends a clear
message from the public about what they thought of the previous council.
Maybe next time we can finally get a new mayor as well.
It was pretty obvious over the last term that there was a disconnect
between council and some parts of our community. New ideas and new
approaches will be welcome. The three mayors will be able to guide a
reasonable path as before.
Will be an interesting 4 years as there are some in who think they can
push big city ideas on a small community.. Our taxes are too high now.
Reign in the spending.
The mayor should resign
Not really based on candidate meeting I attended & candidates background
& career experience. Nice to see new councillors & School Trustees. I
wish them all well & hope them live up to their personal assessments.
I thought for sure that people in Saugeen Shores were ready for a
change. Instead we will see more years of ineffective leadership.
Good to toss out Brown. The mayor must resign
Are you willing to pay more
taxes so your services w
