This is one road closure that the community doesn't mind and comes to expect ...

... for the annual 'Stanley Pot' tournament

The younger students cheer on the players

After two cancellations due to weather, the 'Stanley Pot' road hockey tournament was finally able to go ahead on Friday, April 10th (2015), although the weather was still crisp but sunny.

G. C. Huston Public School Principal Dan Russell began the tournament in Southampton five years ago and, each year, the entire school looks forward to the day.

Senior students help the younger ones and everyone cheers on the teams as loud music has everyone 'movin 'n' groovin' with hotdogs rounding off the day.

Definitely a co-ed game

While it's an afternoon of fun, it's also developing school student team camaraderie and community spirit as many of the parents come out to watch.
