Jennelle Smeltzer is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to athletics and has been bringing home medals from an early age.

An elementary student at Ripley-Huron Community School, Smeltzer was also Valedictorian of her grade 8 graduating class and won the Ripley & District Lions Club Athletic Award.

In 2012, she set new running records in both the 100 and 3000 metres and, in that same year, was on the Kincardine Re/Max Championship Girls' Soccer Team.

Now, a grade nine student at Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS), she's still bringing home the medals.  She recently won in discus, is also on two relay teams and is a runner with many wins under her belt.

When it comes to fall fairs, Smeltzer continues impressing with her wins.  In last year's Ripley Fall Fair, she came in 1st in Teen's Log Sawing, 2nd in Nail Driving and 3rdin Best Bale Decorating.

Most recently, she competed in the Bluewater Junior Badminton Playdowns held in Owen Sound.

During the winter, Smeltzer also plays hockey on the Saugeen Maitland Lightning Midget AA girls hockey team, where she's a forward.

Smeltzer appears to excel at everything she turns her hand to ... whether it's through hard work, persistence or natural raw talent, Smeltzer seems to have it all.
