SDSS Greenhouse Class of 2015 with teacher Keith Day (far R) at a lunch break

by Conor Cassidy

On June 2nd, the Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) greenhouse students visited the Southampton Care Centre with tools, pails and plants for the operation ahead of them.

While at the care center, the students from grade 11 and 12 moved planters, weeded, pruned, and planted the gardens with plants that they grew themselves in the greenhouse at SDSS.

It was an excellent chance for the young adults to get in touch with the elders in their community.

It was clear that the visit alone brightened up the residentsí day as they excitedly gathered around the courtyard to watch the students work.

The teens walked away from the Southampton Care Centre with smiles on their faces and the gardens of the care centre looking in top shape for another year.
