MPP recognizes Outstanding Citizens

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson recognized Tony and Sylvia Sheard with the Outstanding Citizen Award on Friday, June 19th at the Pretty in Pink Golf Tournament.

The Sheards have organized several events over the years in support of local health care and regional cancer care.

Sylvia Sheard has chaired several events that have  raised thousands of dollars for health care, including the annual Pretty in Pink golf tournament held at Saugeen Golf Course each year, the Pretty in Pink Luncheons, the Masquerade Ball Gala, 'Paint the Town Pink' and the annual '5K Your Way' run, with husband Tony Sheard helping to coordinate them.

The golf tournament alone has raised $10,000 each year in support of the Canadian Cancer Society Mammography Campaign and regional Cancer Care overall.

Tony Sheard is also very involved in the community as Chair of the Southampton Memorial Hospital Foundation Fundraising Campaign, past-President of Southampton Rotary and is currently Assistant District Governor of Rotary International.
