The Town of Saugeen Shores has scheduled upgrades to begin this summer at Centennial Pool located at 780 Gustavus Street in Port Elgin. The work will include mechanical equipment upgrades to improve air quality, installation of new doors and windows, and interior painting.

"These upgrades will maximize energy efficiencies and increase our independence from the school’s systems," says Jayne Jagelewski, Director of Community Services for the Town of Saugeen Shores. "They will ensure that our residents have a place to swim and learn important life skills."

While the Town is aiming to minimize disruptions to the pool’s programs, two shutdowns are planned this summer for major work to be completed:

June 23 – June 28: Closed for preliminary preparation of facility and services

Aug 13 & 14: No shutdown scheduled for this time, but minor construction will take place to prepare for upcoming mechanical upgrades

Aug 17 – Sept 27: Closed for the following scheduled upgrades - installation of mechanical equipment, installation of new doors and windows at deck level, and interior painting.
