Doug and Vera Tocher had family join them to celebrate

Kingsway Arms of Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin, Saugeen Shores, was abuzz with celebration on Wednesday, July 1st.  Not only was it Canada day, but two couples who are residents also celebrated their anniversaries. 

Doug and Vera Tocher celebrated  their 66th wedding anniversary.  They were married in 1949 on July 1st. 

The couple was married in Guelph, Ontario and each comes from a large family.  Vera Tocher comes from a family of 13 siblings and her husband Doug from a family of 16.

The couple had eight children of their own, five girls and three boys, and five of the siblings were able to join their parents to help celebrate.

Gloria and Orville Crozier also celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on July 1st.

The couple met while Orville Crozier was working for Ontario Hydro on dam building in Northern Ontario.

Gloria, lived in Spanish, a small northern community, and the couple was married not far from there in Blind River (ON).

The couple had two children and now live in Kingsway Arms at Elgin Lodge.
