The Planeteers of Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) have helped keep the beach healthy for eight years and the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-up is coming back to Port Elgin Main Beach this September!

The Planeteers at SDSS will be cleaning up the Port Elgin Main Beach on September 23rd, 2015 from 3:45 - 4:45pm and invite everyone to join them in this worthwhile community endeavour.

Teacher, Nancie Darlington-Smith of The Planeteers has organized this student group of environmental ambassadors for many years to be conscious of their natural environment. Darlington- Smith says that she is "Happy to have community members join The Planeteers in their 8th annual clean-up of the Port Elgin Beach."

"The Planeteers have found this yearly beach clean-up event in Port Elgin to be a great way to give back to their community and keep it healthy for years to come," she adds.

"The Town of Saugeen Shores is happy to support this yearly student endeavor," says Jayne Jagelewski, Director of Community Services.  "We are thrilled to support these great community minded students with this project by providing garbage bags and gloves for the volunteers."
