Valencia Anaquot-Root lost everything in a recent fire and, with no insurance, has nothing left.

She has three sons, one of whom who is blind and lives at home.

According to her sister, "It seems as though every time she has turned a corner, there has been a roadblock.  She went to university and was working at Saugeen and then was laid off.  Her son was born with a condition where he has no eyes and, now, this.  She has lost everything."

On Sunday, October 18th at 4:00 p.m., it is hoped that the community will come out to help the family.  There will be a fundraising dinner, by donation, at the Mason Centre at Saugeen First Nation hosted by the women of the community.

Southampton Rotary Club will be presenting a donation and, with the support of Square Deal Neil's and Paul Eagleson Furniture, will try to give the family a helping hand.  As with other families, who have gone through difficult times, the two retailers in support of Rotary, will be providing products to help get the family get started again.

A donation fund has also been set up at Port Elgin TD Bank branch.  Call the branch for more information at: 519-832-2035.
