Before we get into the games’ results for Monday afternoon, we must report on a very informative speaker we had at our regular monthly luncheon.

Some brilliant intuitive person in charge of speakers invited Dave Rudell of the Southampton olive oil store to come to speak to us about olive oils. We did not know there was so much about olive oils that we should have known.

Now we know some very important issues about olive oils that we need to know to buy and use them properly. We were informed about the various regions in the world where olives are grown and their differences. We learned what to do and not to do when cooking with olive oils. Thank you Dave for coming to speak to us mature folks.

Walking in the arena will begin again on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 9:00 a.m., November 23d.

We had an unusually good turn out for our games time on Monday afternoon. I guess folks have not headed south yet for their winter time away. There were not a lot of cribbage players out however, and they did not report their scores to the publicist.

There was a great number playing contract bridge: four tables of four at each. The top two winners were no new comers to the post. Charming, handsome Art Grady was the top scorer with the impressive score of 5230 but brilliant Jettie Swaters gave him a good run for his title, with the good score of 3850.

Congratulations folks on some skillful playing.

We hope to see you all again next Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the Rotary hall of the Port Elgin Plex and don't forget ... bring a friend.
