The Rotary Club of Port Elgin contributed $1,000 to help fund five local athletes that will be participating in the upcoming Canadian National Special Olympic Winter Games.

The Winter games are being held in Corner Brook, Newfoundland from March 1st to 5th, 2016 and are qualifiers for the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria.

The Port Elgin Rotary executive decided to support this worthy cause after hearing an enlightening presentation from athlete Jacqueline Gravel and the Special Olympics Grey Bruce organization.

Port Elgin Rotary continues to raise money through-out the year from its many local fundraising activities including Winterama, the Home & Recreation Show, the Huron Shores Run, the Jeff Preston Golf Tournament and Ribfes to support community projects.
