Another New Study?

Another New Study?

If it talks like a duck and walks like a duck, then chances are it's a duck!

For instance, a new "no it's not a study", ummmmm, survey is about to be taken. With the help of the County, 'it' will supposedly find out what people want in the community when it comes to things like walkways that connect residential areas to commercial.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong (which I sometimes am). Is an interconnective walkway like a sidewalk? How can we connect residential areas to commercial areas when we insist on putting commercial areas out in the boonies, where you have to have a car to get there?

Even our 'town administration offices' are now on the outskirts of what was once Port Elgin. Since amalgamation however, the offices are now referred to as being 'between Port Elgin and Southampton'. In any event, you still have to drive to get there -- especially if you live in Southampton!

Most centres are trying to centralize services so why does Saugeen Shores continually try to spread them out, especially, since we have no public transportation? Maybe for those who don't drive, a walkway is the next best thing ... unless, of course, you're 80!

I guess when it comes to 'asking' people to define what they want, or where they want to go, it's different than a study. I don't know. Maybe it's just me that's confused. Maybe, we should have thought about this before? Correct me again, if I'm wrong. Isn't this what an official plan is about? To determine what will be needed according to what people want and not what developers want? To determine where the town will be according to the population demographics?

Hmmmm ... I don't know. I think the last thing that's needed is another study -- oh, sorry, I forgot it's not another study.
