Seasons Shape our Lives

Keith Reynolds

(continued)

Seasons have a way of shaping our lives.

I’m noticing these days, as the warmer weather comes, the number of people who are out walking, jogging or working in their yards. Perhaps, it’s our response to winter being over and spring arriving.

I’m also noticing that people are stopping to talk to each other for longer periods of time. Public lingering is afoot around Saugeen Shores. When walking to work, I, too, find myself stopping and talking to people for longer periods of time.

The seasons change and my desire to linger does too ... to reconnect with our neighbours ... to meet someone on the sidewalk and catch up on how things are going ... to celebrate the sunshine together and the emergence of new life all around us.

In a way, the seasons create meetings and coming together. Times when we meet each other for no purpose or agenda. Moments when the gift of being human causes us to pause and wonder for a while. When this wonder is shared it becomes wonder-full.

Seasons shape us into who we are and into the possibility of community. How will you and I be shaped this season?
