To the editor:
I was born in Ireland. I however have been a proud Canadian citizen for almost fourty years. To this day, I keep an interest in the land of my birth.
Recently, the President of Malta visited Ireland. He was afforded the full trappings and the pomp and ceremony of any visiting head of state, no different to France, USA, Kenya, Argentina or Taiwan. Unfortunately Canada would not be able to avail of this honour.
I’m 100% certain that if Charles III the head of state of Canada visited Ireland, the last thing on his mind, or the minds of the Irish people would be Canada. Surely Canada has more to offer to the world than this.
