Every summer weekend in Saugeen Shores is filled with activities for the entire family.
Last weekend, July 26th to July 28th, was the 9th Annual Marine Heritage Festival in Southampton (Saugeen Shores) and the highlight of the weekend is the Cardboard Boat Race … a fun family event that attracts hundreds of spectators along the Southampton Harbour shoreline.
More than 50 cardboard boat entries were included in several categories including the under 12 yeas of age to the family category and corporate to the Dash for Cash.
Hundreds of spectators took in the fun-filled event as they lined the shoreline to watch some cardboard boat crews complete the course while for others it was a capsize finish .

The tug-o-war battle of the big canoe is always a highlight of the races. This year, Saugeen Shores town council lead by Mayor Luke Charbonneau with Councilor Dave Myette and Fire Chief Phil Eagleson came out on top against the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre staff.
