Arrest warrant issued for driver who flees traffic stop

On September 11, 2018 at approximately 10:45 p.m., an officer on general patrol conducted
a traffic stop on a vehicle for a minor traffic violation in the area of Ivings Drive and
Goderich Streets.

During this stop, the officer observed what was believed to be a controlled
substance located inside the vehicle. As the officer was removing the driver from the
vehicle to affect an arrest, the driver accelerated quickly and fled area at a high rate of
speed.

The fleeing vehicle sped south along Goderich St and was last seen east bound on
Concession 6. The vehicle was being driven in such a manner that it put other motorists
and pedestrians at risk.

The vehicle was located several hours later with extensive damage near the intersection
of  Side Road 18/19 and Concession 2 upside down in shallow creek. The driver had fled
the area on foot.

An arrest warrant is being sought for a 31 year old Hanover man for dangerous driving.
