A section of the Port Elgin Main Beach will be closed to the public on Sunday, September 2 in preparation for the Labour Day fireworks display planned for that evening by the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce.
An area of the beach between the Beach House Washrooms and Beachside Cafe (west of the wooden boardwalk) will be closed beginning at 8am to enable fireworks technicians to setup. This perimeter will be expanded at 7:30pm to ensure public safety during the fireworks display. The washrooms and Beachside Cafe will remain accessible all day. The Beachside Cafe parking lot and parking spaces beside the beach volleyball courts will be available until 7:30pm.
Barricades and signage will be set up around the restricted area. The public is reminded that the fireworks can be viewed from many locations including the Harbour Pier and Promenade, North Shore Park, the flea market area, and Gobles Grove Beach.
