Bruce County Museum’s Chapter 55: Fun in the Kitchen

Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) has rolled out the first in its new Chapter 55 series with Fun in the Kitchen … and it was.

The kitchen at the Southampton Legion on September 20th was all about having fun as 20 seniors learned all about spicing it up.

Janice McKean of organic Ark Farm in Tiverton was all about pairing up spices with foods to make them more interesting and tasty.

The group, taking copious notes, learned that rosemary is perfect with chicken and a blend of spices on roast vegetables makes them even more delicious.

While learning was fun, the group then got to eat what they had prepared – succulent roasted chicken, roasted potatoes with vegetables drizzled lightly with olive oil and sprinkled with spices, ginger snap cookies from Ark Farm and … more.

“We accessed all the ingredients locally,” said Connie Barker, “vegetables were supplied by Harrigan’s Hundred Mile Market, chicken from Southampton Meat Market, oils from the Olive Oil store and, of course, the spices and herbs from Ark Farms.”

Fun in the Kitchen was only the first in a series of what looks to be fun all around with classes that include ballroom dancing, lectures, photography, Tai Chi, painting and more.

Space is limited, so for more information or to enroll in one or all of the series, visit www.brucemuseum.ca or call: 519-797-2080
