Chantry Island Cham-bettes end year on a high note

Chantry Island Cham-bettes ended this year of FUNdraising on a high note at their year-end celebration and disbursement of monies they have raised.

Since 1956, the group of local women has continued to raise funds from various activities and projects held in the community throughout the years.

At Tuesday’s event (Dec. 4/18), the Cham-bettes presented cheques raised from their annual Christmas Tour of Homes 2018 to the local Saugeen Memorial Hospital and the Caitlyn Cobean Community Crusaders children’s charity.

The funds donated to Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation have been specifically designated toward the new MRI equipment at the Regional Owen Sound Hospital that serves five local hospital foundations.

Jim Barbour, Chair of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, (C) was happy to be surrounded by Cham-bettes and Home Tour Designers as he accepted a major donation of $15,000 from the Christmas Tour of Homes 2018

Initiatives, such as the creation of Christmas ‘urns’ are entirely volunteer driven.  This year, the ‘Urn Committee’ created 75 unique urns that raised some $3,700.  In addition, the annual Christmas Garage Sale raised $1,700.  All funds raised by the philanthropic group of women go back into the community.
