On May 7th, the Chantry Island Cham-bettes presented a variety of awards to members and also elected its new Executive.
The philanthropic group of women volunteers have raised funds for more than 60 years through a wide range of activities. From garage sales to plant sales, their Stuff the Scarecrow Fall event and the group’s well known major fundraiser, the popular Christmas Tour of Homes, with all monies raised going back into the community. Throughout the years, the list of recipients for funds is long, including Women’s Houses in the area, the local Hospital Foundation, Food Banks, Hospice and more.
At its Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, service awards, Perfect Attendance awards and the Cham-bette of the Year award were presented by President Gay Ashdown and Violet Campbell, Membership Chair.
