On April 4th, 2019, during a media interview at Bruce County Council, Bruce County’s Director of Transportation and Environmental Services suggested it was unlikely that full closure of the Chesley Main Street Bridge would be required during the completion of the new structure.
Subsequently, it has been determined however, that full closure is needed to complete the project.
Construction started up again on the Chesley Main Street Bridge (Bruce Road 30 from 2nd St. SE to 2nd St NE) in early April and will continue to late June.
The bridge will remain open to traffic with short lane closures and traffic delays during daytime hours until Tuesday April 23rd. At that time, the bridge will be closed and a detour will be posted until work is completed in mid-June.
The Department apologizes for any inconvenience these delays and future closure may cause. Advance notice will be provided prior to the bridge closure and detour posting.
