Couple charged with theft of snowmobiles and mischief

On Sunday, January 12th at 8:51am officers received a call about a theft in progress at an address in Southampton.

The complainant provided responding officers with details that a male and female were attempting to steal snowmobiles on the property. Police arrived on scene and observed foot prints in the snow around two snowmobiles. Officers tracked the foot prints and located the suspects a short distance away. The suspects began to run and officers gave pursuit on foot. After a distance the officers caught up to the pair and placed them under arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the male and female attempted to steal another snowmobile at a nearby address.  Both were also wanted on arrest warrants.

A 27 year old Bruce County man has been charged with:

3. Motor Vehicle theft
4. Mischief to property
5. Mischief to property
6. Mischief to property
7. Failing to attend court

The man was released with a court date.

A 30 year old Bruce County woman has been charged with:

1. Motor vehicle theft
2. Motor Vehicle theft
3. Motor Vehicle theft
4. Mischief to property
5. Mischief to property
6. Mischief to property

The woman was held for a bail hearing
