Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce is a registered charity governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that relies solely on fundraising activities, and the generosity of the community, to keep this valuable program in operation.
Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce has several levels of ‘membership’/donors starting at just $50. To find out more about purchasing a Donor Membership, visit cstip.ca, connect on Facebook, or call 519-371-6078.
In a July letter from the Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce Board to its Police Services and Police Services Boards partners in Grey and Bruce counties, it was stated that the program is in desperate need of funds and Board members in order to continue.
The letter went on to say that, without a new source of funding sufficient to take the program through the 2025 – 2026 fiscal year, Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce would only have enough funding to operate until March 31, 2025, at which point the program would be required to close. The decision is to be made at the program’s September 9, 2024 Annual General Meeting.
Aside from one full-time Civilian Program Coordinator, Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce is entirely operated by volunteers and is seeking members of the community to volunteer on the Board of Directors to help guide the program into the future.
Since its inception in 1987, Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce has served the citizens of the two counties by providing an anonymous service to receive tips about unsolved crimes which are securely passed along to law enforcement. Rewards are paid out for successful tips. On all police reports, there is an opportunity to contact Crime Stoppers with an anonymous crime prevention tip.
Statistics to date show the value of the information provided by the citizens of Grey and Bruce through the program:
