Crime Stoppers: Unsolved Crime – Vandalism to Port Elgin Rainbow Crosswalk

Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce and the Saugeen Shores Police Service are seeking help in identifying those responsible for an act of hate motivated vandalism to public property.

On Saturday August 29, 2020, between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., vehicles made several passes though the newly installed Rainbow Crosswalk in Port Elgin, intentionally spinning their tires and defacing the surface.

Police are investigating this as a hate motivated crime. Hate Crime and Hate Motivated Crime have a harmful impact on the community. It causes emotional trauma to the identified groups that are victimized by hate crime, and it results in serious friction between different groups in our society.
