Denny’s Dam a busy spot on a weekend

The fish are ‘running up-river and the weatherman cooperated on Saturday, May 4th, for many who took advantage and fished the Saugeen River.

Both sides of the river at Denny’s Dam in Southampton were filled with people casting their lines in hopes of landing a big one.

While many fished, others who were visiting the area wiled away the time on shore watching.

Two couples, now living in Toronto, were originally from Russia and Latvia.  Tatiana Alpatov, originally from Moscow and with a PhD in Chemistry, said that she “loves Canada. It is the best country in the world to live in today.”  Her friends, the Okuns, who were a doctor and a surgeon in Latvia, agreed with her.

The two couples had rented a cottage in Sauble Beach but drove to Denny’s Dam where Vladamir could enjoy his passion … fishing.  “We are definitely coming back in the summer,” said Klara Okun.
