Dispose of your dog’s poo properly says reader

To the Editor:

You know who you are.

You pick up your dog poo when you think people are watching and then, at the first chance you get, throw the bag into a tree, leave it on a trail, leave it on the boulevard or hang it on a fence.

I have tried to understand this behaviour, but cannot. You go to the trouble of putting it in the bag (now the worst part is done) but then cowardly toss it when no one is looking. This is just so wrong, on so many levels.

I have lived in Port Elgin for over 15 years and have seen a rise in this despicable act especially over the last couple of years and this year is no doubt the worst.

COVID? You can’t blame everything on COVID. You bought the dog and now you are responsible for it. Please people, think of others, do your civic duty and pick up after your dog!

Be responsible for your pet, it might actually make you feel good.

I wish you understood that not only is this act destroying a pleasant walk for everyone else, it has environmental impacts also. So please take your bag home with you and dispose of it properly. Don’t give me the excuse that there’s not enough garbage cans around – it is still your responsibility regardless!

If you ever see someone not doing their responsibility please let them know how you feel – I know I will! I don’t know what else to do.
