Do you have a desire to serve on Town Council?

Following the resignation of John Rich, the Town of Saugeen Shores is looking to fill a vacancy on Town Council for the Southampton ward. At the September 27th meeting, Council resolved to fill this vacancy by appointment.

Interested candidates must be an eligible voter and be a Saugeen Shores resident or own land, or be the spouse of an owner of land in Saugeen Shores. They do not need to live in the Southampton Ward. If appointed, they would serve from the date of the Council appointment to when the new Council is sworn in after the 2022 Municipal Election.

Applications must be received in person no later than 2 p.m. on Monday, October 18th.

Once all applications are received, Council will hold a Council Appointment Meeting. Each applicant will have the opportunity to address Council at the meeting. Existing council members will vote. The chosen candidate must receive more than half the votes of voting members on Council.
