Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation is bringing the world’s largest street hockey festival to Owen Sound. The Brightshores Ball Hockey Cellybration presented by Bruce Power will be taking place downtown Owen Sound in the River District on Saturday May 4th, 2024.
This 3-on-3 ball hockey tournament will feature seven outdoor ball hockey rinks constructed on 2nd Avenue East. Registration is $500 per team which includes six players, one goalie and three guaranteed round robin games. Top teams from each division will move into a playoff. A variety of divisions mean all ages and skill levels are welcome.
The ball hockey rinks will be 50 per cent to scale of a real NHL rink, with netting, boards, NHL-sized nets and referees for each game.
“We’re excited to bring this event to the area,” said Foundation CEO Amy McKinnon. “We wanted to do something to celebrate the incredible local care we receive from Brightshores Health System and we felt there was no better way to do it than to Cellybrate with the game we love to play. We want to thank Bruce Power for being the presenting sponsor and helping make this event possible.”
The tournament will be run by HockeyFest Game On who have conducted tournaments all over the continent. They have worked with NHL teams and other charities. Expect a professional but fun-filled day where there will always be a game to watch. Additionally, people can take advantage of activities like hardest shot and accuracy shooting.
Hospitals rely on community donations to improve care. Proceeds from the event will go towards the purchase of new medical equipment, renovation of spaces, and staff training at Brightshores Owen Sound Hospital. Together these three things help Brightshores to offer quality local healthcare which is a huge home ice advantage for our community.
