Fall has arrived and, with it, come Fall Fairs throughout Bruce and Grey counties, the agricultural hub of southwestern Ontario, where farmers meet the food needs of large urban centres and celebrate their work and lifestyle.
Each fair is unique in its theme and, each year, the Arran-Tara Fall Fair, is especially different in that, instead of taking place on a weekend, it occurs in the middle of the week on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of September. The Fair, presented by the Arran-Tara Agricultural Society, concept is to give all school students in Tara the opportunity to be part of the parade.

The annual parade held on Wednesday was lead by the Tara Legion with a difference. Normally, the colours are ‘trooped’ in but, this year, the colours arrived by convertible followed by Arran-Elderslie Mayor, Steve Hammell and Fair President Natalie Mather.
Fair Sr. Ambassador Erika Bryson and Jr. Fair Ambassador Madison Hammell were selected based on a wide variety of criteria that included subjects of special interest, their future career path, summer or present employment, clubs or organizations that are involved in, hobbies and talents.
No country fair is complete without horses and the Tara parade had riders of every age and horses of every size.
At the Community Centre, there was the quilt exhibit with its prize winning exquisite quilts along with baked goods, vendors and the popular BBQ and slices of delicious homemade pies.
