Fire Prevention Week 2023 comes to a close but education continues

Local Saugeen Shores Firefighters were out and about in the community throughout Fire Prevention Week held October 9th – 13th, visiting schools and Hampton Court senior home.

“We are focusing on building our relationship with local schools and the community,” says Jenna Underwood, Public Education and Outreach.  “The ‘Home Escape Plan’ is part of the Bluewater School Board curriculum so we are actually going into schools to work with students about fire safety.”

During the week, Saugeen Shores Fire Service opened its two fire stations to the public for tours.  Port Elgin Station welcomed some 30 members of the public on Wednesday, October 11th and a second tour was held at Southampton Station on Friday, October 13th.
