Fire strikes again at Saugeen First Nation

Only days before Christmas, another fire has struck at Saugeen First Nation Reserve #29.

On Saturday night (Dec. 12), fire broke out at a home at 9 Eagle Street on Saugeen First Nation.  According to sources, the family, mother Samantha Johnson and her children, were in London at the time visiting with Johnson’s mother who is in hospital with a serious medical condition.

Home destroyed by fire

The cause of the fire is under investigation but the entire home was destroyed and the family lost all belongings including family pet cats.

The Red Cross has been called in to help the family and, as yet, measures to help the family recover are ongoing.
