As the end of summer approaches, Saugeen Shores is ramping up for a celebration.
In collaboration with the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Saugeen Shores is hosting joint Canada Day and Labour Day fireworks at Dominion Lookout, at the bottom of High Street in Southampton.
Due to provincial restrictions over Canada Day, the decision was made to postpone the fireworks. Now that the province has begun to reopen, the event will be held on the Saturday of the long weekend, September 4th at dusk. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, September 5th, if required.
“It will be exciting to see fireworks back in Saugeen Shores,” says Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “We look forward to seeing the community out at this event but encourage everyone to continue to be mindful of Public Health safety protocols.”
Visitors to the event can also enjoy a charity BBQ held by the Saugeen Shores Rotary Club with heritage and cultural booths from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. the night of the fireworks.
Those planning on attending the fireworks are reminded that Public Health protocols will be in place – maintain physical distancing from those not in your household, wear a mask, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer frequently.
The Town and Chamber of Commerce are pleased to be able to host this event where the community can come together and enjoy the festivities.
