First Responders annual Food and Toy Drive a success

The First Responders’ annual Food and Toy Drive for the local Salvation Army Food Bank in Saugeen Shores was a resounding success on Saturday, December 9th, thanks to the generosity of the community and the first responders who volunteered their time.

They were at four locations, Port Elgin’s Vanderwerf’s Independent Grocer, Canadian Tire, WalMart and Southampton Foodland.

At Vanderwerf’s Independent Grocer in Port Elgin, it didn’t take any time to fill the Bruce County ambulance and add to the cash-donation kettle.

Firefighters, Police and EMS – volunteers to be proud of

Owners, Eric and Cassandra donated several carts of a wide variety of much-needed items for the Food Bank shelves.

There was also a surprise visit by Santa who took the time out of his busy schedule to meet, greet and talk with youngsters who were shopping with their parents.
