Food Basics donates to local Legion Branch 340

Food Basics officially opened its doors at its new location in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores) in May.

At the official opening, Food Basics made donations to each of the local Food Banks and, today June 16th (2023), store Manager, Jason Charleton again presented a donation, this time to Port Elgin Legion Branch 340 in the amount of $10,000.

“We are only too happy to donate to the Royal Canadian Legion as we know what they do for our veterans and the community,” said Charleton, “and this is an amazing community. The people have been extremely welcoming and their support has exceeded all of our expectations.  We feel that Food Basics and other stores give consumers more options when it comes to food variety and that’s always a good thing.”

Legion Branch 340 President, Robert Harrison, accepted the donation. “We are very appreciative of this support.  During COVID lockdowns, the Legion had a difficult time and is just now starting to get back on its feet so this donation will a long way to help us and, in turn, help the community as each year we provide grants to various organizations, such as our local hospital.  So we sincerely thank Food Basics for this wonderful support.”
