Formosa Country Christmas light extravaganza

A number of Santa’s Elves have been working tirelessly in the Hamlet of Formosa putting up thousands of Christmas lights and setting up a number of unique displays and exhibits all in preparation of the big Formosa Country Christmas event on December 1, 2 3 & 4th from 5 to 9pm.

Over 3.2 km of festive lighting and exhibits have been prepared in anticipation of the over 7,000 people who visit this little Hamlet over the course of the event.

“People come from all over Southern Ontario to see this festive extravaganza”, stated Carl Zettel, Chair of the Formosa Country Christmas Committee. “This is a drive-thru Christmas light show that features the entire Hamlet. “All ages come out to enjoy the event and help get into the Christmas spirit”, continued Zettel.

“What makes us different from other light shows is that most of our displays are hand-crafted by talented individuals within our own community. We are also one of the largest light shows in the area. It’s great to see many of the kiddies already dressed in their pajamas, sitting back in the comfort of their own vehicles enjoying this incredible show”, commented Zettel.

In keeping with the Christmas spirit, admission is by donation only. “Our goal is to provide a wonderful Christmas event for all to enjoy”, Zettel remarked.

Formosa Country Christmas would like to extend a heart-felt thanks to the amazing sponsors who are key partners in this festive event. Major sponsors include Canadian Tire (Hanover), Sunbelt (Walkerton), Howick Mutual Insurance (Wingham), Trillium Mutual Insurance (Listowell), Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Formosa Springs Brewery, 1870 (Formosa), Bert Ernewein (Remax), Municipality of South Bruce, NWMO, Weiss Drive Subdivision (Formosa), and Saugeen Conservation, “Your involvement means a great deal”, stated Zettel. “We couldn’t do this without you!”
