The annual Bike to School Challenge was slightly down in numbers, possibly due to weather, however over 1,000 trips by bike were made from June 10-14 and monitored as students traveled to and from school.
G.C. Huston Public School students were the champions with an incredible 50% participation rate. Northport Elementary followed closely behind with 38% of students participating and both ecole PESCS and St. Joseph’s Catholic School had students taking part throughout the week.
G.C. Huston will be awarded a bicycle repair station and, as runners-up, Northport Elementary earned another tree for their school yard courtesy of Trees for Saugeen.
Other class prizes included a pizza party from Boston Pizza and free swim passes donated by the Town.
The Bike to School Challenge has been well-received in the community over the last three years and next year, Bike to School will be held June 8-12, 2020.
