‘Grandma asked me to VOTE! campaign by CFUW

If your Grandma asked you to vote – would you?

CFUW Southport is counting on it!

A member club of the Canadian Federation of University Women, CFUW Southport is supporting democracy by encouraging young people to vote in the upcoming federal election.

Relying on the power of the grandparent/grandchild relationship, the members of this women’s advocacy group are asking grandparents and parents to encourage their young people to vote.

According to Elections Canada, 60% of young people voted in the 2015 federal election, the highest in decades. The daughters, grand-daughters and great-granddaughters of the original suffragettes want to improve on that number.

The strong promotional message is meant to start a conversation between grandparent and grandchild. The message asks young people to vote based on what they care about. Young people are more likely to be persuaded to support an issue when they are asked to do so by a person they trust.
