On Saturday afternoon (Sept. 28) at Ivings Drive and Goderich Street in Port Elgin, a two-vehicle collision brought traffic down to one lane.
The intersection is one of the heaviest used in the community and the municipality has long-lobbied the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) for the possibility of creating a left-turn lane in order to reduce congestion. Since Goderich St. is also Hwy 21 through Port Elgin, any changes must be approved by the MTO.
It appeared that a car rear-ended a truck with Saugeen Shores Police and Paramedics responding.
Details of the accident and any injuries sustained have not yet been released.
