Foundation Executive Director Sally Kidson says Saugeen Shores Barrister and Solicitor Judy Rich will lead the way as the Foundation team takes on the task of helping to raise $150,000 for new equipment for Saugeen Memorial Hospital in   Southampton.

“Ms. Rich is no stranger to the Foundation, having volunteered her time behind the scenes during the annual Light the Way Radiothon on 98 the Beach. Judy recognizes the need to raise cash annually to buy much needed equipment for the hospital so it may better serve the health needs of the Saugeen Shores region,” said Kidson.

Judy Rich is in the business of helping people and the Honourary Chair position is just an extension of what she’s already doing. Rich has a law practice in Southampton helping people with real estate law, preparing wills and powers of attorney, estate administration and corporate law for the past five years. She practiced law in London, Ontario, prior to coming to Saugeen Shores. Rich lives in Port Elgin with her partner Dr. David Billings. Some of her many volunteer activities include being a Board Member on the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Rotary Club of Port Elgin.

“I chose to be the Honourary Chair of the Light the Way fundraising campaign because our Southampton Hospital touches the lives of every single person in this community. Local access to care is incredibly important especially when minutes may matter. We need to feel secure in our community with the knowledge that quality medical service, quality equipment and a caring serving staff is available in our time of need,” said Rich.

Rich says she looks forward to working with the community to help achieve the $150,000 fund raising goal.

Foundation Chair Jim Barbour says work on this year’s campaign has been going on for some time now and he looks forward to a successful campaign that will benefit everyone.

The ‘Light the Way Campaign’ officially begins on Monday, November 12th at 4:30pm, with a special ceremony at the Southampton Hospital site.

Mark your calendars for the annual ‘Light the Way Day’ on Thursday, December 13th with a 12-hour Radiothon at 98 the Beach, 6am to 6pm.
