Huron Shore Run 2023 disburses funds raised

This year’s Huron Shore Run 2023 on June 3rd was once again a resounding success.

The weather cooperated and under sunny skies and warm temperatures, some 800 participants gathered in Southampton to complete the route along the shore of Lake Huron while, at the same time, raising funds for the local hospital and charitable organizations.

On Thursday, July 6th, the funds raised were disbursed with $50,000 donated to the Grey Bruce Health Service’s new mental health and recovery centre that is currently being renovated in Owen Sound and will serve residents across Bruce and Grey County.

The Rotary Huron Shore Run‘s gift will be recognized at the facility on the donor wall as well as a naming plaque for the transitional housing apartment that their donation supported.
“The new facility, which is the first of its kind in Canada, will offer dorm style units for those who are ready to transition home but may not have a safe place to go,” said Hospital Foundation Executive Directory, Tracy Murray.  “The units will allow people to get back on their feet, work and live in a positive, risk free environment as they prepare to become independent.”
