Huron Shores Hospice to celebrate with “The Ungala-gala” FUNdraiser

Huron Shores Hospice has made the difficult decision to cancel its highly anticipated major fundraiser ‘Handbags for Hospice’ for 2020. It is our sincere hope that we will all be able to safely gather together in the same manner, to enjoy friendships, delicious food and the high energy of the event, for on 2021 date – Thursday, September 16, 2021.

The fundraising committee has been working diligently to offer a new, innovative and fun virtual event that will allow us to come together as a community, while safely distancing to keep everyone safe. The event, ‘Hope for Hospice –   The Ungala-gala’, will take place Friday, September 25, 2020 and will be live-streamed into peoples’ homes.

“We are very excited to bring this new and innovative event format to our community,” said Cheryl Cottrill, Co-Chair of Huron Shores Hospice.  “Finally, we can plan to attend an event in 2020 that we promise will not be cancelled because of COVID-19!  It was disappointing to cancel our Handbags for Hospice event, as we know how much our community loves this event and looks forward to getting dressed up and participating in this fun evening. We are also very aware of the funding need for our community hospice, so we got a little creative and came up with a fun and innovative event that would benefit our community and our hospice. We will live-stream the event directly into your homes, allowing for social distancing and keeping our community safe. This event will give our small businesses the boost they need as they get back to business and ensure our community hospice remains sustainable into future years.”

‘Hope for Hospice – The Ungala-gala’  will highlight the best of our local community. The gala will include access to a special take-out menu at local restaurants (not included,) local entertainment, silent and live auctions – supporting our local small businesses and a 50/50 draw. A VIP add-on package will provide glamour hair and makeup tips to get you ready for the big night and an ingredient list for the welcome drink with a local bartender showing you all the tricks to make the perfect drink and be ready for the 7:00 p.m. start.

Tickets are $50 for the main event, with a VIP $25 pre-show add-on ticket available. A full tax receipt is provided for your ticket price, making your ticket a tax deductible donation, with the added benefit of exclusive access to the virtual event!

“Unlike our handbags event, we never have to worry about ticket sales exceeding our room capacity and the entire community can join in on the same fun you’ve come to expect at Handbags for Hospice,” added Cottrill.  “All proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to supporting the care and support we provide to our residents and their families while in care. Only those who have purchased a ticket or provided a sponsorship will be able to “attend” this extraordinary evening.”

All silent and live auction items will be purchased locally from local small businesses to  support them through these difficult times. These items will be purchased with the help of  generous corporate sponsors, to contribute not only to the hospice but also to local small businesses that are a vital part of our community. A few handbags will also be featured in the on-line auctions for those craving their new 2020 handbag.

Stay tuned for more information announcing when the tickets will be available, local talent who will be featured during the event, silent and live auction items and the announcement of the dates for the 50/50 draw and silent auction will go live.
