Huston Hawks say farewell to one of their favourites

After 17 years of teaching at G. C. Huston Public School in Southampton, Enid Johnston has decided it is time to move on to another chapter in life.

When it came to organizing special events and activities, Johnston with teacher and friend, Dana Mogk, were always central figures who focused on fun.  Johnston’s dog Onyx, who often accompanied Johnston to school, was loved by the students and was often seen trotting in the halls.

On Thursday, June 24th, a special drive-by farewell was held by students, parents and grandparents with signs, balloons and noise makers, for who was obviously one of their favourite teachers.

Johnston said that she may go to another local school for her final year of teaching before official retirement … “But then again, I might just retire altogether.  I haven’t quite decided yet and anyway, who knows what September will bring with this pandemic situation.  Fortunately, living in a community like Southampton, I will still see many of my students out and about.”
