Institute would be a Monolith on Fairy Lake says reader

To the Editor:

The proposed Nuclear Innovation Institute is a laudable initiative sadly shoehorned into an ill-chosen site on Fairy Lake in downtown Southampton.

The three-storey monolith would impose itself on a landscape where it has no right to be. This is a cultural and natural space, not one of industrial research. And its lot is crammed to the limit—there is no room for expansion.

Its proper place is as lead building in a research park, where it will attract ancillary institutes and add another identity to Saugeen Shores … the heart of nuclear research.
