Lives behind the Commemorative Banners: Part 14 – Port Elgin

John Rowand Geddes was born in 1894 and got his first education at then Gowanlock school and then at Port Elgin High School.  He went on Stratford where he received his teaching certification.

He enlisted in 1915 and, while in England, took a course in the Royal Flying Corps.

He had been wounded in France and, following recovery, took a special course in England.

He died on November 3, 1917 in France and is buried in the Dozinghem Miliary Cemetery in Belgium.

John Rowand Geddes received the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
