Local athletes qualify for the Ontario Winter Games

On January 14, 2024, four local athletes competed in the Provincial round of the Ontario Youth Challenge (a 5 pin bowling event) and they represented us extremely well.  Our Region’s Men’s Team finished in 2nd and our Ladies’ team in 4th.

The men’s team will represent Southern Ontario and the Winter Games in Thunder Bay February 23-26, 2024.  Our Men’s team was led by local athletes Eric Berg and Kelvin Gottschalk while our women’s team was led by Raven Hamacher and April Virtue.  Congrats to all who participated and good luck to the boys in Thunder Bay.  Although this will be Kelvin’s first trip to the Winter Games, this will be Eric’s second trip as he was part of the winning team last year.

While competing for a chance to represent Southern Ontario at the winter games, the athletes also had the chance to qualify to represent Southern Ontario at the 2024 Youth Challenge Nationals being held in May, 2024.
Once again, our athletes did great with 60 boys and 60 girls competing. Kelvin Gottschalk finished 20th and April Virtue was 10th.  Eric Berg was able to finish 2nd and qualify for the National team while Raven Hamacher led the field and qualified 1st with a 270 average.
