Local business issues a Grand Fondo ‘Change a Life’ challenge

The Gran Fondo Lake Huron Change a Life Challenge, presented by Bruce Power, announced its first official Team Challenge last week in Port Elgin.

The staff at the Super 8 motel in Port Elgin have joined the Change A Life Challenge and, together, will be logging their kilometers from now until August as they plan to walk across Ontario in an what would be a distance walk of 1,114 km.

This year, fundraising is more important than ever as participants will be raising funds to purchase a new defibrillator and new vital ECG machines for the local hospital.

The Super 8 Team is thrilled to take part in the event this year to help support healthcare in their community and, therefore, has issued a challenge to other local businesses and residents.

Super 8 Staff excited to participate in Gran Fondo for health care

“The Super 8 has always been a proud supporter of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.  Normally, we would only be involved as a sponsor and to provide accommodations for participants given that the Grand Fondo takes places during what has been our very busy ‘tourist/visitor’ August weekend but, with the event going virtual this year, it is our opportunity to be able to actually participate in the event itself,” says Super 8 General Manager, Jenn Cortan.  “While our team’s goal is to virtually “Walk Across Ontario” by August 15th, 2021, a trek of some 1,114kms, we also are holding out the challenge to help us “Walk around Lake Huron”, a whopping distance of 6,164kms!”

Businesses and residents can answer the challenge in a number of ways:
