Port Elgin is moving forward in the revitalization of the waterfront of the Port Elgin main beach.
At the Committee of the Whole meeting on May 13th, it was agreed on a motion that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be entered into with developers Pier Donnini owner of the Queen’s Bar & Grill, and Dan Murawsky of Murawsky Design and Drafting.
According to Donnini, there may be an opportunity for another train on the beach.
The Town staff and Council said that the developers had checked all of the boxes required for a building permit as outlined in the request for proposals (RFPs) and that a final design to replace the existing building will come to Council for approval.
“Since the capital investment by the proponent will be significant, it is important that clarity exists for both parties,” said Town CAO, David Smith.
“We are all looking forward to see the next steps on this,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau.
