Local police hosting Community event and free BBQ

When it comes to policing in Saugeen Shores, it is all about being part of the community.

In celebration of National Police Week, and because last year’s event proved so popular, Saugeen Shores Police Service is again hosting a fun Community Event afternoon today, May 16th, at its local police Station.

Special Olympians and police officers will be facing off in a re-match of last year’s road hockey game and the Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores will be cooking up a mouthwatering free BBQ.  Youngsters will also have the opportunity to explore the inside of a police vehicle.

Police Chief Kevin Zettel says that local police are part of the community.  “We want people to know that we care about them and our community, and that they can always come to us for help.”

The meet ‘n’ greet, that kicks off at 3:00 p.m. and runs until 6:00 p.m., is a chance to meet local police officers.

Everyone is invited.
