Local realtor meets the challenge for CT scanner campaign

The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation’s “Bring TOM to Town” (Computed TOMography (CT) Scanner) fundraising campaign received a boost from local Realtor Doug Johnston from Royal Lepage DC Johnston Realty.

Not only did Johnston take part in the Foundation’s recent fundraising radiothon on December 9th by donating $1,000 and challenging local realtors to join him, he also pledged to match any realtor donations up to $20,000. His challenge was answered by three local realtors and he kept his word donating an additional $4,650.

Johnston’s generosity didn’t end when radiothon concluded however. The Hospital Foundation graciously accepted his pledge to donate $20,000 over four years to the CT scanner campaign.

“At Royal Lepage DC Johnston Realty, we believe in giving back to the community and I can think of no better way than supporting the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and their Bring TOM to Town CT scanner project. Quality healthcare is one of the most important things people look for when relocating to a community. We are proud to be a supporter,” said Doug Johnston.

The $3 million CT fundraising campaign launched in late October now sits at just over $1 million. Foundation Executive Director, Tracy Murray, is hopeful that area businesses will join Team TOM in the coming months to help bring the life saving and much needed CT scanner to Bruce County .

“There are many ways people or businesses can help us reach the $3 million goal for this project,” says Murray. “Mail in your Light the Way donation slip that you received in your mail, or call our office, buy some CT scanner lottery tickets, businesses can come on board for event sponsorships, or anyone can easily start their own fundraiser by using our fundraising platform online. With a few simple clicks you get a custom fundraising page and link to share with friends and family. Whether you contribute $5 or $50,000, every single gift is crucial to reaching the goal and creating a tremendous impact on improving healthcare in our area.”
