James checked his ticket on the OLG app when he discovered his big win. “My wife and I were in shock,” he recounted, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his windfall. “We danced when the winning music came on!”
The 56-year-old said he revealed the news to his family and initially, they didn’t believe him. “They said, ‘Yeah, right,’ but after some convincing, they were overjoyed!”
James hasn’t made any major plans for his winnings yet. He says he will manage his finances and treat him and his wife to new Muskoka chairs.
“There were winners in this community, and I knew it was possible, but I never thought I’d win this big of a prize. You can’t describe it. It’s surreal.”
